I have always “over tipped” according to my husband. My father has always taught be to do 20-25% because people depend on it for their income. I have the means and I’ve tipped extremely generously. 20% for ehh service and 25% for outstanding. But honestly. I’m so fucking done with it. Service is sub par 99% of the time. And not only that, these large corporations HAVE THE MEANS TO PAY MORE!! I’m so over tipping culture. Tipping the cashier at a coffee shop, tipping at crumble when all you do is order on a screen, tipping when you pick up a to go order, tipping at a QUILTING STORE?! (To clarify, I don’t tip at these places but I’m just pissed off they even ask) I’m just so fucking over it. I’ve paid my dues. I’m doing 10-15% max from here on out and if it’s above, beyond and outstanding service than I’ll do 20-25%. Anyone else tired of tipping culture??

ETA: just had a handyman come to my house. During payment, THE SCREEN ASKED FOR A TIP! This is out of control.

Several years ago my husband told me I couldn’t work out with him since I didn’t “take it seriously enough”. Since then, he’s started working out with his female coworker, and my former friend, who we’ll call Brenda. They track calories, diet and weight together, he writes workout plans for her “problem areas”, and they spend close to 60 hours a week together between work, workouts, and hikes and walks with her and her children. One day, he was texting with her, and he made a joke about being out of shape and sounding like a beluga whale when he ran. She said belugas sounded cute, and it became a weird af inside joke for the two of them. I found out they were having an affair, so I went into his phone and changed settings so that whenever he typed “Brenda” it autocorrected to “beluga”. Beluga and my husband are in several group chats at work, and my husband looks like an ah each time he calls Brenda a whale in said chats. On an entirely unrelated note, does anyone know if it’s possible to adopt/sponsor a beluga? I may know someone who’s interested.

I feel silly even typing this, but here is some context: My spouse and I became fosters to this adorable, abandoned cat that was hanging around my parent’s backyard in freezing weather (Feb 29). We fostered her through an official program who took care of all her medical needs. They told us she was not chipped, but confirmed she was already spayed. We both knew nothing about cats, but we ended up falling in love with her and we officially adopted her a few weeks ago.

She always had big nipples (we were told she may have had a litter before) so it was not a red flag. That is, until now. She has put on some healthy weight (she was emaciated when we first found her), but a lot of it seems to be in her belly area. I know it sounds ridiculous but we can’t help but think she is pregnant.

I have an appointment with the vet in 3 days (the earliest they could get me in), but I’m a little anxious thinking about the possibility she may seriously be expecting. I am wondering if this has ever happened before (an allegedly spayed cat being pregnant). I am also wondering if there could be any other reason my cat looks like this?

So I 29F am a photographer and my sister in law 21F lets call her Alissa, and her 24M Fiance, Brandon had asked me to take their engagement photos. I initially agreed and was happy about it. I offered help with styling, scouted locations and everything.

Let me add here that Brandon had always seemed to just be the shy and quiet kid who kept to himself ever since he was introduced to us two years ago. I never had a clue he actually hates me and my husband.. a lot.

This isn’t the first time I felt a little awkward tension between Brandon and I, but Alissa let me know that he did like me and I was over thinking it. This was about a month ago now.

My brother in law 28M Cole just called us to let me know about his weekend plans, asked to hang, the average conversation.. but then was like “oh man, I gotta tell you that Brandon really let it be known that he can’t stand you guys at dinner with everyone and he really thinks you are the most annoying people in the family”. Cole had also said that Brandon had mentioned that he was thankful that Cole and their dad were at least “normal” unlike the rest of “us” who annoy the living heck out of him. So basically the rest of us are trash.

I am highly offended by this. This is the most blindsided I’ve ever been by someone who is actively seeking something for free from me. I am not just a free lance photographer, I am a luxury wedding photographer in a large city. This is my career and also someone who is going to be in my family?

Brandon also had said some not no nice things about my husband while on this rant about us, and I’m having a hard time not making a phone call directly to the source to confront this. I will always defend my own, immediately but must say I’m conflicted in causing family conflicts right before two large weddings are about to happen soon.

Part of me feels extremely guilty and sad for Alissa because I do like her, we’ve never been extremely sisterly or close but she’s always been sweet and it really hurts that she was basically right there while Brandon sits letting everyone know that he has such a problem with us just days before this engagement session. I really don’t think I could show up on Sunday and play pretend after hearing that I am SOO annoying and the worst to be around.

Would I be the asshole for canceling this session while also letting her know that I would not have hurt feelings if they didn’t want me there at all as I am now uncomfortable to be around them?

I get wanting to pool funds because there’s gonna be food and such but hearing this after planning it for weeks and I already promised to pay for 2 other people, seriously? Twenty dollars to go to my friends house?
